Such a pleasant book. I liked the previous one and I'm happy the author improved on it and delivered an even better read. It's a light fantasy story, with a romantic element to it. The two main characters are really cute, I couldn't help but root for them. There is a good world building in the book, with the author elaborating even further on the religious aspect of the saga and the actual gods themselves. And I love that we are quickly shown that those gods not only exist, but are directly interfering with the world, instead of being some mystical spectators.The book is a little short. And the author needs to work some more on the fighting sections, as those are still rather simple and underwhelming. Also as a personal preference, I would've liked to see some eroticism as well - for a book that focuses so much on the romance between the characters, it never went further than a light kiss.Lighthearted, pleasant book. The kind you read and then continue your day with a smile on your face. I loved Effie Calvin's first novel, _The Queen Of Ieflaria_, and was excited to see her next work in this world. This one has similarities to the first, but entirely new characters.Orsina is a questing paladin. Iolar, God of Law, has sent her to defeat a great evil, but she does not know what it is or where it is to be found. All she knows is that every time she prays to Iolar, he doesn't tell her that she's completed her mission. It's been years. She keeps going. She's getting lonely.In the first scene she runs across the minor chaos goddess Aelia, whose domain is Caprice. Orsina slays her. Iolar does not indicate that this was the task to be completed, so Orsina moves on, and meets a badly wounded woman called Elyse who doesn't want to talk about her attack, but is happy to travel with her for a time....A fun follow-up to _The Queen of Ieflara_ that illuminates a different part of the world of Inthya and gives a broader view of how its pieces fit together. A romance develops, but I wouldn't hesitate to give the book to a teenager or advanced tween.
